Thanks to blogs like Cashewmaniakpop and Dramabeans, I was able to watch and enjoy the first episode of Personal Taste — a new k-drama starring Lee Min-ho and Sohn Ye-jin. Cashewmaniakpop provided the much-awaited links while Dramabeans delights her readers with her splendid recaps.

In Personal Taste, Lee Min-ho plays the role of Jeon Jin-ho, a dashing, no-nonsense architect who heads his own architectural firm. Lee Min-ho is perfect for the role of 30-something Jin-ho. And although I miss the overbearing arrogance of Jun-pyo of the Boys Over Flowers fame, Lee Min-ho as Jin-ho is just as cool and remarkable.

Sohn Ye-jin, on the other hand, takes on the role of Park Kae-in, a dense furniture designer. But I must admit that I had a hard time warming up to the character of Sohn Ye-jin because even if I really admire her as an actress, this is my first time watching her in this kind of role. I’m so used to her being beautiful and glamorous that it sort of irritated me at first seeing her in plain-looking garb and sporting a rather unkempt, unattractive hairstyle.

The first episode of Personal Taste went really well, with both characters figuring in a couple of hilarious encounters. And judging from what I’ve seen so far, the drama is very promising. The obvious personality differences between Jin-ho and Kae-in means more clashes and therefore, more fun in the succeeding episodes!

I’m not very familiar with the supporting cast, except maybe for Jo Eun-ji, whom I adored in 9 End, 2 Outs and liked in Lovers in Paris. In the drama, Jo Eun-ji is Lee Young-sun, one of Kae-in’s friends.

Other characters who stood out in the first episode of Personal Taste is Han Chang-ryul (Kim Ji-suk), Kae-in’s cheating boyfriend and Noh Sang-jun (Jung Sung-hwa), Jin-ho’s friend and colleague.

Also entitled Kae-in’s Taste/Personal Preference, Personal Taste currently airs via MBC during Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:55 p.m.
