Japchae

Korean Food Chapchae

I’m so hungry!  It’s past 10:00 am and I didn’t have breakfast yet.

And this picture I took of the japchae I had at this Korean resto called Barbeking isn’t helping either (please excuse the fork).  Their japchae’s good, a perfect mix of saltiness and sweetness.  Aaah,  I can still remember the texture of the noodles and vegetables and the nutty smell of sesame oil!

If only the serving portions at Barbeking are bigger….:-(

For those who are not familiar with Korean cuisine, japchae is a noodle dish made from dangmyeon (vermicelli/glass noodles) and thinly-sliced vegetables stir-fried in sesame oil.  Soy sauce and sugar are also used to add flavor to the dish.

If you watched the Korean drama Full House, this is the dish that Young Jae’s grandma tried to teach Han Ji-eun (Song He-kyo).  I don’t remember the exact episode but as a big Full House fan, I certainly remember the scene.

I found a recipe. Seems easy but requires a lot of slicing. You up to it?

    Hi,

It’s between P220-P280, if I’m not mistaken. Their servings are good for 1 lang talaga. Barbeking’s a little expensive.

I also like the Japcahe of Sigol Bap Sang. They have really big servings and serve lots of banchan.
